Jewelry
Jewelry and Textiles class is the only art class where you can create wearable art. There will not only be an emphasis on creating functional pieces but also non-functional art. The goal of this class is geared toward those who want to demonstrate personal creativity and express yourself along with others who share the same interests. You will learn skills that you may use throughout your lives as a job or as a hobby.
First semester projects consist of learning basic skills with wire bending, polymer clay, book making, wet and dry felting and resin. This class 2nd semester will teach you techniques such as; bookmaking, casting, using the jewelers saw, mosaics, lamp work, wire wrapping and bending, sewing, fabric dying, rug making, weaving, and other related subjects.
Altered Book Friday
An altered book is when you take a book that was unusable and recycle it into a piece of artwork. Each Friday student create a page in their book. Students are given a theme for their page and the requirement is that they have to have a title, explanation and some form of embellishment. This is a fun way that I like to incorporate writing into art class.
